Last week in science!

Lessons 1 & 2 – Mon-Tues/Wed, May 17th-18/19th (Day 28-29/30)

Today in science: Students were given time to work on Chapters 3 & 4 of their Food For Plants packet. On page 15 of Chapter 3, students are asked to watch a short video clip of a Venus fly trap (but also of carnivorous plants, more generally). Here are the two video clips Dr. Merritt used with students in the classroom:

Homework: All students have been asked to work on Chapters 3 & 4 of their Food For Plants packet at home tonight. Working 20 minutes at home on these chapters each night this week will keep students on pace to complete the chapters before the start of the weekend.

Lesson 3 – Wed/Thurs, May 19-20th (Day 30-31)

Today in science: After showing students the ‘life cycle’ of a strawberry via a single image (see below), students had time to work on either their new Pistil Dissection or their Food For Plants packet–or BOTH–during today’s science lesson.

Homework: All students have been asked to work on Chapters 3 & 4 of their Food For Plants packet at home tonight. Working 20 minutes at home on these chapters each night this week will keep students on pace to complete the chapters before the start of the weekend.

Lesson 4 – Friday, May 21st (Day 32)

Today in science: After showing students the ‘life cycle’ of a tomato via a single image (see below), students had time to work on either their new Pistil Dissection or their Food For Plants packet–or BOTH–during today’s science lesson.

Homework: Any students unable to complete Chapters 3 & 4 of their Food For Plants packet by the end of Friday’s science class were asked to do so over the weekend. The packets will be collected at the start of Monday’s class.
