ELABORATION
Translation | Explication | Classification | Description

What is a banana? Let’s describe it!

As mentioned on the Elaboration page, you are going to learn about four strategies for elaborating definitions. The fourth strategy is description.

What is description?

In its simplest formulation, this method involves providing or giving details about a thing by means of a systematic investigation. Systematic means “methodical” or “according to a plan.” Although there are more than four descriptive methods in existence, at least for now your teachers are making four of them available to you. These four methods are listed below:

  1. FLAVOUR SCHOOL
  2. DISSECTION
  3. DETECTION
  4. FOLLOWING

You can use one or any combination of the four descriptive methods in your weeLABs™. Because each descriptive method is fairly involved and somewhat unique, however, a separate webpage is devoted to each. The first descriptive method addressed is called the Flavour School method.
