The Gift

The Oath | The Gift | Elaboration | weePORTs

What is a banana?

As mentioned in The Oath, weeLABs™ require a gift from your teacher. As an example, let’s imagine that your teacher has given you a single banana like the one shown in the photo at right.

Upon receiving your gift, which will typically be something edible (or drinkable), you will also receive a dictionary definition from your teacher. For example, if you were gifted a banana, you would also receive Merriam-Webster’s definition of a banana from their online dictionary, which is also recorded below…

an elongated usually tapering tropical fruit with soft pulpy flesh enclosed in a soft usually yellow rind.

This is what Merriam-Webster says a banana is. According to Merriam-Webster, this is what we might mean when we say (or write) the word “banana” not only to (or for) ourselves, but also to (or for) others. It is here, in the reception of The Gift–both the thing and the definition–where the real work of the weeLABs™ process truly begins…
