THIS WEEK IN SCIENCE!

SS – G7 Week 01

Lesson 1 - Monday, Jan 26

Today in science: Both B & H periods were given access to their (final) Fall Semester grades in Veracross. Dr. M also used this opportunity to briefly discuss a change in the Spring Semester with respect to the number and frequency of homework assignments to expect in this new semester. Finally, both classes returned to the video students started last week (The 5 Wonders of Our Universe).

Homework: There is no science homework tonight.

Lesson 2 - Tue, Jan 27 (B) & Wed, Jan 28 (H)

Today in science: Both periods continued watching the 5 Wonders of Our Universe video. B period still has just a few more scenes left to go and will finish in Lesson 3.

H period finished watching and summarizing the video, so they were asked to complete a set of Exam.net practice questions related to “gravity.” H period was also introduced to a new type of homework assignment for the Spring Semester, but B period will not see this assignment until their next lesson.

Homework: H period students were given their first homework assignment of the new semester. It’s K-WoW #1 (Gravity), which is due on Friday.

Lesson 3 - Wed, Jan 28 (B) & Thu, Jan 29 (H)

Today in science: B period students finalized their notes for the 5 Wonders of Our Universe video and then completed a set of practice questions devoted to another wonder of the universe, gravity.

H period students were given a little time to ask questions about K-Wow #1, which is due at the start of Friday’s lesson. They then

Homework: H period students were given their first homework assignment of the new semester. It’s K-WoW #1 (Gravity), which is due on Friday.

Lesson 4 - Thu, Jan 29 (B) & Fri, Jan 30 (H)

Today in science: B period was introduced to a new type of homework assignment for the Spring Semester and then given time to complete it in class. Although students had the option of turning it in before leaving class, Dr. M strongly encouraged students to consider turning it in at the start of Monday’s class instead, giving students some additional time to improve their drawings before submitting them for grading.

With H period, Dr. M shared some of his observations about students’ work on their first K-Wow assignments before asking them to submit them for grading; this involved watching a short video on gravity meant to offer students additional ideas to include in their K-Wow. After giving students 10 minutes to make any desired changes to their assignments before then submitting them, Dr. M asked students to complete a Gravity learning check on Exam.net. In preparation for our next unit, this was followed by an additional set of Exam.net practice questions on Growth.

Homework: As per the TASIS MS school homework policy, there is no weekend science homework (due on Monday).
