Lesson 1 - Monday, Nov 25
Today in science: To review for this week’s Electrical Circuits unit test…
D period was asked to complete and turn in handouts 7Jd(1) “Series and parallel” and 7Jd(2) “Parallel circuits” during the lesson. Students were then given 7Jd(6) “Parallel circuit questions” and 7Je(3) “Electricity revision 1” as additional practice for Wednesday’s quiz. These two handouts should be done for homework and be completed prior to the start of Lesson 2.
E period students were then given 7Jd(6) “Parallel circuit questions” and 7Je(3) “Electricity revision 1” to finish during class. Any students completing these with time left during the lesson were then asked to begin answering Questions 1-7 in the Exploring Science 7 book on pp. 156-57 about series and parallel circuits.
Homework:
D period students should complete handouts 7Jd(6) “Parallel circuit questions” and 7Je(3) “Electricity revision 1” and be prepared to have them corrected by the teacher at the START of Tuesday’s science lesson.
E period Students should work through the BBC’s “Introduction to Circuits” webpage. When students get through all of the topics listed in the left-hand column, they can then take the Quiz at the bottom of the page.
Lesson 2 - Tuesday, Nov 26
Today in science: To review for this week’s Electrical Circuits unit test, D period students received some recent graded homework assignments so that Dr. M could help them correct any incorrect ideas/answers. Students then participated in a couple of circuit-related Kahoots, which gave Dr. M a chance to help students learn more, for example, about both conductors and insulators.
E period students also received some recent graded homework assignments so that Dr. M could help them correct any incorrect ideas/answers. Students also had the opportunity to ask questions about questions they didn’t understand. After trying some additional practice questions with a Kahoot!, which gave Dr. M a chance to help students learn more about both conductors and insulators, students also spent a little time building some test circuits from laminated cards provided by the teacher.
* Some D & E period students will be absent due to the Singing Christmas Tree concert in Zurich.
Homework: Students should spend 20 minutes review their study materials for this week’s Electrical Circuits unit test.
Lesson 3 - Wed, Nov 27 (D) & Thurs, Nov 28 (E)
Today in science: Students took the Electrical Circuits unit test today. Most students finished the test within the 60-minute lesson.
* Any D period students unable to attend Lesson 3 due to the Singing Christmas Tree concert in Zurich must plan on taking the unit test in class on Tuesday, November 3.
Homework: There is no science homework during the 3-day Thanksgiving weekend, but of course any students who missed the Electrical Circuits unit test should continue preparing for it as they will complete it on Tuesday, November 3.
Lesson 4 - Fri, Nov 29 (No School - Thanksgiving Holiday)
