THIS WEEK IN SCIENCE!

FS – G7 Week 12

Lesson 1 - Monday, Nov 11

Today in science: B & C periods started their review sheets for the upcoming Chemical Reactions & Matter unit test, which has tentatively been scheduled for Thursday, 14 Nov (B period) or Friday, 15 Nov. These dates are tentative because many Grade 7 students are scheduled to be away from school on Thursday and Friday for a TASIS sports event. Although we will continue preparing each night as is the test will be on Thursday/Friday, in reality we might have to schedule the test to happen on Tuesday, 19 Nov. (B & C period) or Wednesday, 20 Nov.

H period finalized their review sheets as they began this activity in Lesson 4 of Week 11.

Homework: Each night this week, Dr. M will be asking students to spend 20 minutes reviewing for the Chemical Reactions & Matter unit test. He will suggest new review exercises each day.

Lesson 2 - Tue, Nov 12 (B, C) & Wed, Nov 13 (H)

Today in science: B & C periods finalized their review sheets for the upcoming Chemical Reactions & Matter unit test! They are now ready!!

H period began their new unit today which, strangely enough, uses the same Driving Question as the Chemical Reactions & Matter unit, that is, “How can we make something new that wasn’t there before?” As promised, however, we spent the last 10 minutes of the 60-minute lesson talking about how best to review for the upcoming Chemical Reactions & Matter unit test.

Homework: Each night this week, Dr. M will be asking students to spend 20 minutes reviewing for the Chemical Reactions & Matter unit test. He will suggest new review exercises each day.

Lesson 3 - Wed, Nov 13 (B, C) & Thu, Nov 14 (H)

Today in science: B & C periods began their new unit today which, strangely enough, uses the same Driving Question as the Chemical Reactions & Matter unit, that is, “How can we make something new that wasn’t there before?”

H period began completing handouts listing the structures and functions of both the male and female reproductive systems.

Homework: Each night this week, Dr. M will be asking students to spend 20 minutes reviewing for the Chemical Reactions & Matter unit test. He will suggest new review exercises each day.

Lesson 4 - Thu, Nov 14 (B) & Fri, Nov 15 (C, H)

Today in science: B & C periods began completing handouts listing the structures and functions of both the male and female reproductive systems. When finished, students were asked to submit (turn in) these two assignments in the Google Science Classroom.

After taking two practice ‘structure/function’ quizzes about both the female and male reproductive systems (which Dr. M projected onto the white board), H period then began investigating the special adaptations of both the sperm and egg cells. Using two short videos, we took some notes.

Homework: Students may choose to continue reviewing for the Chemical Reactions & Matter unit test, which is scheduled for Tuesday, 19 Nov (B & C period) and Wednesday, 20 Nov.
