Two different marking (or grading) schemes are used in Dr. Merritt’s science classes. The marking scheme depends on whether or not an assignment is considered “REVISABLE” (able to be revised by students for a higher mark/grade) or “NON-REVISABLE” (unable to be revised by students for a higher mark/grade).
All science students should familiarize themselves with both categories by reading the descriptions below and following the links.
REVISABLE ASSIGNMENTS
Revisable assignments are assessed according to an EXPECTATIONS-BASED grading/marking scheme.
– Revisable assignments include Lab/Field Reports, Lab/Field Notebooks, Quizzes, Extended Writing Assignments, and contents of the Classroom Science Binder.
NON-REVISABLE ASSIGNMENTS
Non-revisable assignments are assessed according to a CREDIT-BASED grading/marking scheme.
– Non-revisable assignments include all Homework, Classwork, Tests, Projects, and Antipasti.
