SCIENCEsEDiment PRESENTS...

THE SHED

A loosely organized, digital storage space

Over the years, Dr. Merritt has created, collected, and curated any number of useful resources for his science students. The Shed is his version of Harry Potter’s Room of Requirement: a room–albeit a digital one–where visitors can come find things on those occasions when they need them most. The Shed is an eclectic mix of useful stuff, and finding what you’re looking for can sometimes be roundabout, but once you learn your way around there’s a good chance you’ll become a frequent visitor.

Admission is free. Stay a while. Have a look around. Be patient. Move stuff. Look under things. Follow the links. Loiter. Return in your free time. There’s no need to clean up when you leave (it’s a shed, after all).

'How To' Tutorials

How do you make a graph? How do you make a data table? How do you use a ruler? How do you use a Bunsen Burner? How do you describe an insect? How do you write a scientific report? How do you… The tutorials section is dedicated to helping you learning how to do what scientists do.

Writing Workshop

Much of the day-to-day work of many research scientists involves countless hours of writing. The Writing Workshop, which is a sort of website within a website, aims to demystify science writing and help you learn how to produce scientific texts such as lab reports and research articles.
