THIS WEEK IN SCIENCE!

SS – G6 Week 16

Lesson 1 - Monday, May 26

Today in science: After briefly discussing the next steps of INV#16, which we will turn our full attention back to in Lesson 2, Dr. M asked students to carefully consider the 10-point scores given for the four Key Questions in the “Mixtures” and “Solutions” textbook assignments. During the class discussion of the Key Questions (KQs), Dr. M gave students feedback and revision tips. These tips can be viewed in the G6 Feedback Portal.

Homework: Students have two class days in which to submit their (optional) Key Question revisions related to the recently returned “Mixtures” and “Solutions” homework assignments. This means that D period KQ revisions are due on Wednesday, 28 May while E period revisions are due on Thursday, 29 May.

Lesson 2 - Tuesday, May 27

Today in science: The first part of today’s lesson was devoted to completing INV#16, which meant students took their final measurements of the mass of sand and salt collected via enacting their separation techniques (e.g., filtering, boiling, evaporating). The second part of today’s lesson was devoted to preparing for Lesson 3’s LEGO Forces & Motion activity. To prepare for this activity, students were asked to make a concept (or mind) map from the ES7 textbook pp. 165-167. Dr. M asked students to make “Forces” the central focus of their mind map. To help students create a more comprehensive map, Dr. M asked students to be sure to include all of the bold words found on pp. 165-167 within their map.

Homework: Students have one more class day in which to submit their (optional) Key Question revisions related to the recently returned “Mixtures” and “Solutions” homework assignments. This means that D period KQ revisions are due on Wednesday, 28 May while E period revisions are due on Thursday, 29 May.
