This past Sunday I went into the woods in search of more forest fungi, but the recent snap of cold weather seems to have curtailed much of their growth. Instead, my eyes were drawn to the chestnut leaves that had been knocked down by the recent rains and winds. I was struck by the contrasting yellow, green, and rust colors in them. It was as if someone (or something) had yet to finish sucking out their green pigments through a narrow straw.
In any event, I hope you enjoy this autumn collection of fallen chestnut leaves.
