Lesson 1 - Monday, May 19
Today in science: Students had class time to work on the following assignments: 1) Layers of the Earth & Atmosphere research project, and/or 2) Types of Rock investigations (INV#11, INV#12, INV#13). The final due dates for both of these projects have now been set in Veracross.
The (three) Types of Rock investigations (INV#11, INV#12, INV#13) is due on WEDNESDAY, MAY 21 (C period) or THURSDAY, MAY 22 (B & H periods).
The Layers of the Earth & Atmosphere research project is due on THURSDAY, MAY 22 (B period) or FRIDAY, MAY 23 (C & H periods).
Homework: If they haven’t completed them already, students should be working on both of the projects discussed above.
Lesson 2 - Tue, May 20 (B, C) & Wed, May 21 (H)
Today in science: To help students make progress on their three Types of Rock investigations AND their Layers of the Earth & Atmosphere project, Dr. M shared a collection of video and textbook resources. All of these resources can be found in the Google Science Classroom.
Homework: If they haven’t already completed them, students should be working on both of the projects discussed above.
Lesson 3 - Wed, May 21 (B, C) & Thu, May 22 (H)
Today in science: To help students make progress on their three Types of Rock investigations AND their Layers of the Earth & Atmosphere project, Dr. M shared a collection of video and textbook resources. All of these resources can be found in the Google Science Classroom.
Homework: If they haven’t already completed them, students should be working on both of the projects discussed in Lessons 1 & 2 above.
Lesson 4 - Thu, May 22 (B) & Fri, May 23 (C, H)
Today in science: Dr. M collected students’ final projects (the Types of Rock investigations AND the Layers of the Earth & Atmosphere project) during today’s science lesson. Before accepting students’ science notebooks, however, students were asked to add ‘How are they formed?’ diagrams for each of the three main rock types: sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic.
Any students able to complete and turn in both assignments with time left in the lesson were asked to observe different types of rocks with the microscope and to write 3 Noticings and 3 Wonderings for each rock sample.
Homework: If they haven’t already completed them, students should be working on both of the projects discussed in Lessons 1-3 above.
